Youth Services of Salesian College of Higher Education begun in 1982, when the college started as a college of Philosophy for the future staff of Don Bosco Educational society – A Don Bosco Global network. The students then went around Dimapur and the neighbouring Assam for the seminars on Literacy, Leadership, Ecology, Healthcare and other related social issues. Besides, they also conducted seminars on ‘Happy Living’.
When the College was rechristened as SALESIAN COLLEGE OF HIGHER EDUCATION with the temporary affiliation to Nagaland University in 1995, the Youth services got a new face-lift. Gradually, the Youth Services developed in to 43 centres: 21 hostels and 22 villages. We cater to around 600 to 700 youth on a weekly basis.
Now, we have seminars on once a month in the different areas of youth services. we bring the youth of Dimapur and the neighbouring Assam to the College campus twice in a year. The first is being on last week of August for the BIBLE SKIT AND BOSCO SING OUT. These two competitions are held alternatively every year. The prizes for the winners are given away on the Youth Meet day. The ANNUAL YOUTH MEET is another occasion where the mammoth crowd of youth in and around dimapur walk into the campus of the college. The youth number about 400 to 600. The day begins with the inaugural session, flag-hoisting, Youth meet theme song and the anthem performed by the residential students of Salesian College of Higher Education. Thereafter, there follows prayer and worship moments and animation of the youth groups on the Theme of the Youth Meet of the year.
