Inauguration of Academic Year 2016 cum Fresher’s day was held on 4 June 2016. Eminent Professor Sapu Changkija Dept. of Genetics and Plant Breeding SASRD, Mehziphema was invited to be the key note speaker for the function. Professor Sapu presented a detailed paper on Natural Resources: Biodiversity and its Perspective in Nagaland. He pointed out that Nagaland has a rich diversity of flora and fauna that needs to be documented and preserved. Rev. Fr. Nestor Guria the provincial of Dimapur province graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In his speech the Chief Guest spoke on Salesian Youth Pastoral where he emphasised that every institution is called to be a home, a parish, a play ground and a school.
The program began with an invocation led by Fr. Sebastian Jose the vice-rector of the college. Lamp was lighted by the invited guests and student-teacher representatives as a symbol of new beginning. Freshers were creatively welcomed to the world of critical thinking and learning. Khetoka Chishi was given the Best Student of the Year Award.
