Holy Cross Catholic Youth Movement organised the 2nd Annual Sports Meet in view of the upcoming Silver Jubilee of Holy Cross Youth Movement at the Holy Cross Hr. Sec. School Dimapur on 18th-19th July 2016. There were eighteen teams from six units that participated in the competitions: Holy Cross, Padampukri, Samaguri, Zeliangrong village (Dhobinala), Good Shepherd Seminary and Salesian College Dimapur. Salesian College of Higher Education team brought laurel to the college as it begged the first and the second positions in the volleyball and basketball respectively. Fr. Gyan Sandeep Kujur, Vice-Principal of Salesian College, was the champion of men’s single badminton. Bro. Rajendra and Bro. Zhopa Charles Khamo were declared as the best players in the volleyball and basketball respectively.
“Winning and losing is part of games but participation itself is a success” said Shri. Arthur Edwards, founder of Livingstone Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur. He said this while gracing the two-day, Annual Sports Meet as the chief guest. At the concluding ceremony, Shri. Rudolf Athihe, Rtd. Senior manager of Vijaya Bank, as the guest of honour exhorted all the participants to give importance to other extra-curricular activities apart from studies so as to grow in all the areas of life. He also said that one should focus on the activity close at hand with full attention and not leave anything done half-heartedly.
