26th February was a glittering day in the life of Nongbrians which housed 35 – 40 inmates, who were students of St. Paul Hr. Sec. School, Signal basti, Dimapur, Nagaland. Besides this, there were also students from the Kids care hostel – students of St. Paul Hr. Sec. School. They were animated on the theme of ‘ Nine points of success and Happy living’. The resource person for the entire session was Asst. Professor of philosophy of SCHE, Br. Dominic Eddie Ralte. He was assisted by the residential students of Salesian College of Higher Education: Brs. Vincent Gonmei, Isaiah Newme, Pyndanpura and John Kullu.
The session lasted for one and half hours. The session was preceded by the inaugural ceremony at 10.00 a.m with a prayer. It was followed by the words of welcome by the proprietor of Nongbri hostel, Mrs. Patricia. She welcomed all the participants and remarked that the animation of this sort was very timely.
Further, it was enlivened with the action songs. Prior to the session, there was reading of the Word of God and the presentation of prayer hymns through the LCD projector.
The second leg of the animation saw the stressing on the theme ‘Nine points of success and Happy living’. They are: self-esteem, Optimism, Go M.A.D (Make a Difference), Don’t’ judge, Mind your business, Be flexible, Keep yourself busy, No procrastination and Be temperate .
The animation with video and slide presentation had the desired impact on the viewers – many a eye-ball was welled up in tears). At the end, the proprietor tossed the vote of thanks, expressing the gratitude for the animation of this sort to the Salesian College Youth Centre. The young participants summed up their reaction in to the resolutions like: ‘I will love myself as I am’. Thereafter, there was a photo session which signaled the conclusion of the lively and meaningful animation. It was truly an enriching day at Nongbri Mansion.
