The District Level Co-ordination committee Review meeting for the 2nd Quarter 2016-17 was held for the heads of the educational intuitions and some Govt. officials, at DC Conference Hall on 26 September. The programme was chaired by Shri. Kesonyo Yhome (IAS), Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman DLCC Dimapur Dist.
Addressing the gathering, Shri. Kesonyo, said that those schools and colleges which were certificated as Tobacco Free educational institutions have began the journey and they have to face the challenges with good will and zeal to see progress. He commended the effort of Tobacco Cell and Medical Department in reaching out to more than five thousands students and enabling many schools and colleges to join on board with the drive for Tobacco free educational campus. He mentioned that qualitative progress has to be given importance and he exhorted all the stakeholders to take interest for the betterment of the society. He also spoke on Smoke Free Dimapur Initiatives, which is intended to make all the public places smoke free zone.
In this event, six schools and three colleges were awarded with Tobacco Free Schools Certificate. The awardees were Lima Aier HSS, Lingrijan, Govt. HS, Lingrijan, Pine Mount School, Bubagaon, Shepherd School, Bubagaon, Holy Child School, Burma Camp, High Mountain School, Kashiram, Hope Academy, Naga United Village, St. Clare HSS, Kacharigaon Phevima, Livingstone Foundation HSS, Thahekhu, Salesian College, Kuda Village, City College of Arts and commerce, Netaji Colony, and Sakus Mission College, PWD. Colony.

While sharing the experience on the management of Tobacco free campus, Fr. Dr. Policarp Xalxo, Principal of Salesian College, said that the governing body of the college, the student council and village elders worked together for healthier way of life. A student from St. Stephen HSS, presented a memorandum and handed over the signature campaign for Smoke Free Dimapur Initiatives to DC. Miss Imkumla Aier, Psychologist, gave the activity report of the National Tobacco Control Programme of 1st and 2nd quarter (April-Sept.) 2016-17.
Under the guidance of SDO (Civil) Dimapur and Dr. C. Tetseo (DNO, NTCP) the members actively discussed and gave suggestions for Smoke Free Dimapur initiatives, sensitization programme for head of the departments, and sensitization program for Village Council.
