The representatives of the Eco club of Salesian College of Higher Education Dimapur, attended one day seminar on “Water Quality Issues and Ground Water Stress Areas” conducted by Government Of India, Ministry of Water Resources, RD & GR, Central Ground Water Board, North Eastern Region, Guwahati in collaboration with Directorate of Geology and Mining, Govt of Nagaland on 28-November-2017. Shri, Manen Joint Director, Directorate of Geology and Mining welcomed the participants and the inaugural address was given by the Chief Guest. L. Panger Yaden, Joint Director. He called on the participants to Educate People on Water and create awareness on the proper use of water. Dr. S.S. Singh, scientist, Central Ground Water Board, North Eastern Region, Guwahati proposed the vote of thanks.
A technical session was conducted by the resource persons, Shri, D. Khanikar (Scientist) and Dr. S. S .Singh (Scientist). They highlighted the issue of increase in population and emerging pattern of urbanization which has led to the increasing demand for basic amenities i.e., safe drinking water and sanitation system. After the presentation, Dr. S. S. Singh, did sample analysis on the different water samples carried from different colleges. This experiment was done to find out whether the water was fit for human consumption, and the presence of arsenic in the water. The programme ended with a distribution of certificates and a photo session with the resource persons
