SCHE Director and YD Celebrate Jubilees

27th May 2017, was a day of immense happiness and festivity for the Community of Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE), Dimapur. The community celebrated the Golden and Silver Jubilees of Fr. Rector and Director, Tom Karthik and Fr. Christudoss, Youth Director (YD) respectively. On the same day, Fr. V.M. Joseph, the confessor too kept his birthday. It was indeed a day to be cherished and remembered.

The crown of the day was the Holy Mass. It was presided over by the Golden Jubilarian Fr. Tom and con-celebrated by the Fr. Christudoss, Bishop of Guwahati Archdiocese Rev. John Moolachira together with a number of priests. The homily was delivered by Bishop John Moolachira. In the sermon, he spoke about his experiences with Fr. Tom. He also shared about how lay people felt about the present day’s missionaries: “In the past, missionaries went in search of the people, but now people come in search of priests and religious. He exhorted everyone to revive again the trend of shepherding the flock.

The solemn mass was followed by a felicitation programme for the Jubilarians. The event was graced by the presence of two Bishops namely, John Moolachira and James Thoppil of Kohima diocese.

The felicitation programme was light, creative, colourful and entertaining. During the programme Rev. Bishop James Thoppil shared about his experiences with Fr. Tom and also highlighted the qualities that he possessed. After his speech Fr. Tom’s book entitled “Meeting God in Prayer” was also released.

Both the Jubilarians were grateful to God for all his blessings and goodness. They also thanked the people for their love, care and support. The grant Jubilee celebration ended in a fitting manner with a sumptuous meal. The people dispersed for their homes with joy on their faces and gratitude in their hearts.

In fact it was a memorable as well as an inspiring even for all the people to serve in the Lord’s vineyard faithfully.
