The fifth semester students of the English Department of Salesian College of Higher Education, Dimapur, went to Shillong for a study tour on 7th July to 9th July, 2017. The motive behind the tour was to enhance the young minds of the students with love for nature and culture and to create an awareness of the variety and beauty of the ethnicity of the North-East in which we breathe.

They visited the places like the Indigenous Culture Museum, Shillong Peak and Elephant Falls. The students learnt many features of the North-East in the Museum such as the tradition, the cultures and the Arts of North-East Tribes. They got the opportunity to watch a documentary movie which was presented with colourful performance of the North-East people. They also learnt about the natural landscape of Shillong, which is known as the ‘The Scotland of the East’. They further had a trip to Shillong Peak and the Elephant Falls where they learnt the value of preservation of natural vegetation enabling them to have the determination to preserve the environment likewise. The study tour was organised by Miss Mary Lophro, HOD English Department and Miss Vitsino Haikam.
