Cycle Rally for Better and Tobacco Free Dimapur

In support of a “Better Dimapur” and a “Tobacco Free Dimapur,” a cycle rally was jointly organized by District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC), Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) and Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE) at 6.30 am on 1st Dec. 2017, Nagaland Statehood day. The CMO Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi flagged off the pedal rally at Thehekhu Village Gate. Dignitaries present for the event from the Medical Department were CMO, DNO and NTCP Dr. C. Tetseo, and DMC Liaison officer, Mr. Ganesh Sharma.

In his short message before the rally, CMO exhorted the SCHE students to be the harbingers of change in the society and thanked all the participants for their keen interest in “Better Dimapur.” Addressing the students at the end of the rally, Dr. Tetseo underscored the importance of clean and tobacco free Dimapur. “When we see our homes and offices neat and tidy, we can say that we live in a Better Dimapur,” he said. Mr. Sharma requested all the gathering to cooperate with the effort of the DMC to make a waste and dust free Dimapur. The officials present for the occasion exhorted SCHE to continue to collaborate and support the Govt. initiatives till the dream of making a Better and Tobacco Free Dimapur is realised.

Dr. Policarp Xalxo congratulated all those who made this rally possible: CEO, DMC Mr. Moa Sangtam, Medical Department of Dimapur, Commissioner of Police Dimapur Mr. Limasunep Jamir, SCHE Rector Fr. Tom Karthik, GSS Rector Fr. Sunny Joseph, Rally co-ordinator Avibou Nagi, NTCP members Medongunuo Pienyii, Akangnaro Jamir, staff and students of SCHE.

About 150 cyclists with messages on their placards, ‘Better Dimapur,’ ‘Tobacco Free Dimapur,’ ‘Waste Free Dimapur,’ ‘Smoke Free Dimapur,’ ‘Plant trees,’ covered the stretch from Thahekhu Village Gate, Lhomithi Village, Signal Angami, Naga Gaon, Sub-Jial, DC Court Jn, Kher Mahal, Hotel Senti, Burma Camp, Walford (Essar Petrol Pump), Nagarjan road to Salesian College.
